really powerful image. i especially like the intricate windows and light streaming down from them. kind of surprising that there's no blood on the man on the throne since he's presumably just cut someone's head off.
wow, what an awesome dark and graphic picture! The old king's face is twisted in horror and anger to me, and the other man seems sorta I don't know sad? his shoulders heavy suddenly.. but this is an awesome image!
You know what's sad? The first thing I thought when I looked at this wasn't 'wow this is great' [which it is] or 'what great color/lighting', but rather 'what idiot designed that armour?'
But then, I *make* armor, and use armor in Middle Ages Recreation. And while the armor is certainly very pretty, it's... well, not practical. There's no reason I can think of that anyone would articulate shins and thighs, since any articulation just means more time repairing the thing when the pieces start falling apart [ and they will. Articulated pieces are usually held together with leather and rivets, and sooner or later a good blow will pop a rivet. So you get to re-rivet the damn thing ]. The knee cops also look too big [ but he may have big knees! ] and not rounded enough, which would make putting his knee straight difficult.
The way the right arm is built would guide a sword right towards the head [ which, I admit, is usually covered with a helm, but still-- you don't want to be smacked in the head every twenty seconds ], seems a bit too big judging by his frame and his other arm [ too big means it'd be sliding around all the time, and restricts mobility in the arm. Since he's holding the sword in his right hand, I can only assume he's right handed and would want as much mobility in his arm as he could get ]. As for the spikes on the top of the arm, near the shoulder? I can't help thinking he's going to poke his own eye out any moment now.
But I do like the picture. Nice mood. Nice colors. Nice 'lighting'.
Great.. Just.. Wow.. This is perfect. Reminds me of one song.
"quietly it crept in new horror
and spilled the first blood
when the old king was slain"
Nightfall Blind Guardian
lol. fav+ ^___^
Prolly already said, but it looks like Arthas after he killed King Tyranas in Warcraft 3... that dirty bastard Undead, betraying his Paladin brethren and killing his own father! Oh well, anyways, your CG is impecable.
Great choice of pose and expression. Fits with the title - as if murder was the only the first in a a long list or wearying tasks needed to be done. And he's too distracted to even get rid of the king afterwards!
Someone said classic style, I agree - the general feel, i love the light aroudn the central window aswell as the shafts on the outer. The rich texture on the bloodied carpet. I disagree about the fire, i think it fits in fine, especially the right hand plinth. I'm not sure if the blood or the ruffled chair fabric fits in with the rest of the picture, but it's a minor thing. And I love the glow on the armour from the diffuse lights.
It might have been nice to have the face much more hooded - brooding shadowed features with the eyes still the same. Almost to match and counterpoint the fantastic dark yet empty expression on the old king.
Like this hasn't been said 390432923 times, but yes, it does look like the first cinematic from Warcraft III... This is excellent work, the all done in PS7 amazes me as well. Such detail...everything in this is...detailed to perfection. Just...wow. Keep up the amazing work! *faint*
Oh my god, this is my favorite of your pictures I've seen so far! It's so beautiful and dark and morbid! I'm in love with that guy. His hair, his armor, his pose... he's perfect! The quality of the painting/shading is wonderous... hard to believe some people can use PS this well!
